What you need to know before you go

Since Orlando is landlocked, you'll have to travel a bit to do any scuba diving.

Some good scuba diving can be found on either coast -- Tampa Bay to the west, and Cocoa Beach or Melbourne to the East.

In Central Florida itself, there are some opportunities to dive in the freshwater caverns that have been carved out of the limestone base that Florida is built upon. About 2 hours northwest of Orlando, in Williston, Florida you can dive in spring water at the Blue Grotto to a depth of 100 feet.
