Canoeing & Kayaking in Space Coast
What you need to know before you go

Florida's Space Coast offers many unique canoeing and kayaking experiences.

In the Titusville area, you can choose from a wide selection of expeditions that include Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon, Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Pelican Island, and Canaveral National Seashore. While paddling, you'll come across plenty of alligators. But you'll also get to see manatees, dolphins, otters, bald eagles and pelicans.

Near Cocoa Beach, you could spend a lifetime kayaking the 1000 Islands area and still not see everything. There are just so many channels and islands to explore.

For a truly unique kayaking experience, the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne allows you to kayak on zoo property (the only zoo in the country to do so) either down the Nyami River in Expedition Africa, or through their Wetlands Outpost, a twenty-two acre reconstructed wetland featuring over fifty thousand plants, trees and shrubs that are native to Florida. For more information, visit the Brevard Zoo website at www.brevardzoo.org.

Picnic on 30 miles of undeveloped shoreline with bays, sand dunes, sea turtles.
